BigCommerce is capable of more than the small pool of developers around it would have you believe.
I work directly with established BigCommerce stores on Stencil themes, product and category experiences, integrations, front-end fixes and the awkward custom work that falls outside page-builder settings.
BigCommerce is often not the problem. Finding somebody comfortable inside the store can be.
The platform is trading, the catalogue is established and operations know how to use it. Then a theme limitation, integration problem or conversion issue appears and every proposal begins to drift towards replacing much more than the problem requires.
That is frustrating when the business does not need another platform debate. It needs the existing storefront understood and improved.

The visible limitation is not always a platform limitation.
A product page can feel rigid because of its template. A category can be difficult to browse because the theme exposes the wrong controls. A script may conflict with dynamic content. A checkout-adjacent requirement may belong in configuration rather than custom code.
Without hands-on platform knowledge, all of those issues can be described vaguely as “BigCommerce cannot do it”.
I inspect the Stencil theme, page-builder setup, scripts, catalogue assumptions and integration points so the team can distinguish a real constraint from a solvable implementation detail.

Yes. Improving an established theme is the normal starting point.
“Can you help with product and category templates?”
Yes. Those are often the highest-value places to make focused merchandising and customer-journey improvements.
“Can you investigate script or app conflicts?”
Yes. I can trace front-end behaviour and determine whether the problem belongs to the theme, script, integration or configuration.
“Will you recommend replatforming?”
Only if the evidence shows a genuine platform constraint worth the cost. It is not my default answer.
A platform change is an expensive substitute for a missing diagnosis.
Before replacing a functioning commerce foundation, it is worth establishing whether a focused theme or integration change can remove the actual constraint.
There are two ways to approach it.
Assume the platform is the problem
Turn a contained storefront issue into a larger strategic project before the cause is understood.
Improve the part customers use
Find the constraint, work in the correct BigCommerce layer and keep the rest of the trading operation intact.
