Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

This policy explains how I collect, use and protect personal data through this website (lukemichael.co.uk). It applies to people who visit the site and to anyone who contacts me through it.

1. Who I am

Luke Michael, a UK-based eCommerce consultant and developer, is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, use the FREE call enquiry form.

2. What I collect

  • Information you send me. When you use an enquiry form (FREE fit call, paid advisory, or a request for my rates), I collect the details you provide — your name, work email, website URL, whatever you tell me about your enquiry, and any suggested call times.
  • Analytics information (only if you consent). If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how the site is used — such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or region), device and browser type, and how you arrived. This is pseudonymised and isn't used to identify you personally.
  • Your cookie choice. A small first-party cookie remembers your cookie preferences so you're not asked on every visit.

I don't ask for special category (sensitive) data, and I'd ask that you don't include sensitive personal information in enquiry messages.

3. Cookies

The site uses the following cookies. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them — until then, Google Consent Mode keeps analytics switched off.

CookieTypePurposeRetention
lm_consentStrictly necessary (first party)Remembers your cookie choice6 months
_gaAnalytics (Google)Distinguishes visitorsUp to 2 years
_ga_NY47HN3ZEVAnalytics (Google)Maintains analytics session stateUp to 2 years

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings button at the bottom of the screen, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

4. Why I use your data, and the legal basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to carry out that work. Legal basis: your consent when you submit a form, and/or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
  • Analytics, to understand how the site is used and improve it. Legal basis: your consent.
  • Remembering your cookie preference. Legal basis: this is strictly necessary so the site can respect the choice you've made.

5. Who I share it with

I don't sell your data and I don't use it for advertising. I rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on my behalf, under appropriate agreements:

  • Google — Google Analytics, used only with your consent.
  • My email and website hosting providers — to receive and store correspondence and to run the site.

I may also disclose data where I'm legally required to do so.

6. International transfers

Some providers (for example, Google) may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long I keep it

  • Enquiries and correspondence: kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting work, and to meet legal or accounting obligations, then deleted.
  • Analytics: retained in aggregated, pseudonymised form according to Google Analytics' data-retention settings.
  • Cookie preference: 6 months, after which you'll be asked again.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data; to have it corrected or erased; to restrict or object to how it's used; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (which doesn't affect processing that already happened). To exercise any of these rights, use the advisory form or FREE call form. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time using Cookie settings.

9. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

10. Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe. No method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure, but I work to protect the information you share with me.

11. Children

This site and my services are aimed at businesses and aren't directed at children. I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

12. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the "last updated" date at the top.
