Forms people don't dread
Dear reader,
Nobody enjoys filling in a form. On a store, a clunky one sits right where the money changes hands, quietly costing you sales. The good news is forms are one of the easiest things to improve.
Make them lighter
- Ask for less. Every field should earn its place. Do you really need it now?
- Use the right inputs so phones show the right keyboard
- Autofill and address lookup to save typing
- Validate kindly, in the moment, with clear guidance
The aim is to make the form feel like less of an obstacle and more of a quick formality.
Every extra field is a small reason to give up. Remove the ones you don't truly need yet.
Respect the phone
Most people are completing your forms with their thumbs. Big tap targets, sensible ordering and as little typing as possible make a real difference on a small screen.
Ask for the minimum, help people through it, and save the rest for later. A form people don't dread is one more of them actually finish.
Best,
