Watching the first two weeks after launch

Dear brand owner,

Teams celebrate go-live and then look away. But a migration isn't done when the new site is up. It's done a couple of weeks later, once real traffic has tested every corner you couldn't.

What to watch

  • Conversion rate against the old baseline, by device
  • 404s and redirect gaps as search engines re-crawl
  • Search Console for coverage and indexing changes
  • Support tickets for patterns ("I can't find...", "checkout won't...")

The first week flushes out the obvious. The second catches the slow-burn issues: a redirect nobody hit yet, a template that only breaks on certain products.

The bugs that matter after a migration are the ones only real customers can find. Give them two weeks to find them, and watch.

Respond, don't panic

A dip in the first days is normal as things settle. What matters is the trend and whether you're fixing what surfaces. Keep a running list, triage by impact, and clear it steadily.

Stay attentive for a fortnight and you turn a nervy launch into a solid one. Then, and only then, call it finished.

Best,

Luke Michael
